The onboard computer definitely changes with its current driving condition.
I think it likes to predict the consumption based on what you're doing.
For instance, I would drive on a road that's 45mph, the read out would be 15 miles.
I get closer to town, speed limit gets to 30... then 20... with a few stop lights, etc. It would bump up to about 19.
Same thing with the gas... I've seen it calculate the distance to empty would be like 220 miles.
Look down, and it's 212 miles, for whatever reason, while I'm not even using the ICE.
Get in next time and its 225 🤷♂️
As for the charge, the only time I've ever seen it say 33 EV miles is picking it up from the dealer.
Ever since, it only reads 31mi when the battery is 100% charged.
My only guess, is the last 2 miles is for the eAWD power reserve. Once the Tonale gets off the lot, starts being used, and the computers calculate stuff, it figures out it needs eAWD reserve, so it takes it away.
If you're lucky, and have the hybrid setting screen in uConnect, you can actually see the percentage of the battery.
When the readout is zero miles, the battery still has ~5% give or take.
Only once, when I was in bumper to bumper traffic, when I got home, plugged it in, did it say 1% (though the ICE kept turning on and off - that's what it does when its that low; acts like a normal hybrid).
Hope that helped!
