Would you be able to charge the Tonal Plug in with a standard household outlet overnight or will you need to install a Level 2 charger?
@thptrek haven't checked the official Level 1 charge time for the Tonale PHEV but typically 12 hours is what's expected across the board. Likewise with Level 2 charging which for the Tonale is 2.5 hours.

How much do you drive everyday? That 12 hours overnight might be more than enough.

Overnight charging with a standard plug would work fine for me. Was just trying to determine if I would be required to add a new power outlet in my garage. If I don't have to then that is an expense I don't have to budget for. Most of my driving is just around town so the hybrid electric range is just fine.

Hey @thptrek welcome to the forum! You should be able to charge without a level 2 charger. How long have you had your Tonale?
I haven't ordered one yet. My local dealer called me about doing a preorder and this question I had came up. I really would like to see one in person before ordering. There is a Dodge dealer next to my Alfa dealer so if the Dodge dealer gets a Hornet in I'm going to take a look at that too. Just want to see the actual size of the care and interior.

Yes you can use the regular plug. It would take around 12 hours to fully charge.

Some electric companies give rebates to get level 2 installed and they charge less for electricity at night. So you may want to do the research/calculation. The investment may pay itself off in short time.

Standard 120V outlet is fine, but you may want to check what else are connected.

Outlets dedicated for EV charging are "home run"s meaning they are direct connected to the panel without sharing. Normal household use outlets are diasychained. If you are using normal household outlet, make sure no other high power device would be used, while you are charging.

Like another PHEV:) Luckily I had another circuit coming for my garage door and ended up using that. I hate a dangling adaptor from the ceiling but didn't have any other choice.

Tonale will come with Level 1 cord.

You can use a basic 110v outlet for a PHEV. For my Crosstrek (8.8 kWh) took 4.5 hours to charge. The Tonale is 15.5 kWh, so assume 8 hours.

If you want to use an L2 EVSE, hardwired, it will be a lot quicker. But that costs money. $750 install + $500 EVSE for my Tesla in 2019.

I would just use 110v since you can run on gas in an emergency.
